George Demetriades is a Partner at Command Strategies managing the firm's international growth and National Guard activities. In early 2011, he founded Global LZ, a business development firm focused on assisting both international clients in evaluating and entering the U.S. Market and domestic clients in evaluating and entering foreign markets. Command Strategies ultimately acquired Global LZ and the activities of both companies now reside under the same roof.
Prior to founding Global LZ, Mr. Demetriades was the Vice President of Washington Operations of a large, internationally respected, full-spectrum business development consulting firm which specialized in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States military. During his tenure there, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the firm and executed the expansion of the firm's geographic presence into Michigan, South Carolina, and Europe. Mr. Demetriades also expanded the firm's presence into additional sectors as diverse as Aerospace, Simulations and Training, and Sustainment programs.
Before entering the private sector, Mr. Demetriades served as the Military Legislative Assistant to Senator George Allen of Virginia. In this capacity, he assisted the Senator in analyzing proposed and pending legislation affecting the Department of Defense and National Security policy, evaluated requests from constituent businesses for inclusion in the appropriations process, and worked with committee staff members to advance the Senator's legislative agenda.
Mr. Demetriades was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon completing his undergraduate work in Political Science at Wake Forest University, he was commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army. He served as a Platoon Leader and company Executive Officer with 102 Military Intelligence Battalion, Second Infantry Division, Republic of Korea. Upon returning to the United States, he served in support of the National Security Agency as the Adjutant of the 741st Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Meade, Maryland.
Mr. Demetriades transitioned into the National Guard in May of 2000 and served as the Intelligence Officer of 1-158 Cavalry (Recon), 29th Infantry Division prior to being mobilized as part of the 278th Regimental Combat Team (Tennessee Army National Guard) for Operation Iraqi Freedom III.
Mr. Demetriades is a lifetime member of the Tennessee National Guard Association and a former member of the Corporate Advisory Panel of the National Guard Association of the United States
