Bob Mahar


Robert (Bob) Mahar is a senior associate at Command Strategies.  Mr. Mahar brings over 30 years of expertise and results-oriented work in International and Domestic markets, marketing advanced technologies, goods and services to the US Defense market, specifically to the US Army (18 years); Foreign and Domestic Trade and Contract Negotiations; Market Analysis; Extensive Trade and Convention management experience.

Mr. Mahar currently resides in Georgia, located at Ft. Benning and has established relationships and experience working with the US Maneuver Center of Excellence which includes the infantry and Armor Schools, the Maneuver Battle Lab, and associated combat development activity.  His nearly twenty years of business development activities with General Dynamics Land Systems brought him to Ft. Benning to develop and maintain strategic intelligence and relationships with major staff, leadership, and Capabilities Development Integration Directorate. Preceding his time at Fort Benning , Bob was a member of the General Dynamics Land Systems business development and international market support of the design and manufacturing, and exhibiting of vehicles and technologies  in Ontario, Canada.

Before transitioning to his time in private industry, Mr. Mahar served as a commercial officer for the Canadian Embassy in the promotion of technology goods and services to the U.S defense market and managed contract units.  He was then appointed to serve as Trade Commissioner to the US by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs & International trade, where he established and managed the Canadian Interdepartmental Committee to oversee implementation of the Canada / US Defense Development Sharing and Production Sharing Agreements (DDSA/DPSA) with the US government.
A retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Canadian Army, Bob’s military career included service as the Canadian Forces Liaison Officer at the Pentagon to the US Dpt. of the Army and as Integrated Exchange Officer at HQ FORSCOM, Ft. MacPherson, GA.  Additionally, he held Command and Staff positions throughout the Army in Mechanized, Airborne and Special Forces Units, including Chief of Staff, Special Service Force / Canadian Air-Sea Transportable Brigade Group (CAST) . He is a Graduate of Canadian Army Staff College, US Army Command and General Staff College and US Army Special Forces Officer’s Course; he also completed extended courses at United Kingdom’s Army Intelligence School.

Mr. Mahar currently serves on the Board of Directors as Vice President of the Chattahoochee Valley / Fort Benning Chapter of the Association of the US Army, and Past President of Army Sniper Association.
